Venue History
The Pride of the Valley was built in 1867 and was named after a neighbouring beauty spot. The site that the hotel is located on used to be common land and was used for cattle fairs previous to 1867
In the late 19th Century the area outside the hotel was used as the venue for Jumps Days which were small village fetes.
The hotel was built to take advantage of the roads built in the area with its passing trade and to serve the local community and the large houses that were built along the Tilford Road.
